-Nettle fiber: A magical plant-
When we hear the word "nettle", we think of the many times when we were walking in the fields or gardens, our hands or legs had to endure their unpleasant stings and itching. We also think of our grandmothers' nettle soup, those wonderful cooking witches.
But we do not suspect the magical power of this plant. With the nettle fiber, we offer you an ecological and ethical collection of accessories from a traditional craft. These products are made by the Kulung community of the high plateaus of the Himalayas in Nepal. This craft of secular tradition respectful of the environment uses materials from the wild nature without any pollutants.
The cultivation, weaving and knitting of nettle are carried out by this community whose know-how is ancestral. No chemical treatments are used in the manufacturing process.
Nettle is a precious material that they consider a mystical plant.
Girardinia Diversifolia (Himalayan Nettle) grows wild in forests at 1500M altitude. The seeds of the plants are sown freely and the young shoots grow from the roots. The inner bark of the stem gives very strong fine fibers, one of the longest in the plant world which can reach up to 3M in height.
Contrary to what one might think, the fabric does not sting, we use the stems and not the leaves. Nettle fiber is natural, biodegradable, compostable, light, strong and thermoregulating. Our entire range of nettle fiber accessories is machine washable at 40°.
The washcloth can be used daily to cleanse sensitive facial skin and gently exfoliate it. The glove and back strap allow you to both exfoliate and massage the body. Witches' favorite: The pretty nettle fiber flower, to put under the soap to dry it.
Nettle fiber gently exfoliates our body and its qualities make it a precious product for our planet.
